List of Steel Mills in Bangladesh: Factory Types, Locations and Verification Guide

List of Steel Mills in Bangladesh | FAR-MAC STEEL

Searching for a list of steel mills in Bangladesh sounds simple. Yet results can mix billet producers, re-rolling mills, fabricators, importers, dealers and sales offices. These businesses do not perform the same role. Treating them as identical can produce specification, delivery and quotation errors.

This buyer-first guide explains how to identify steel manufacturers in Bangladesh, separate steelmaking from rolling and fabrication, verify factories and compare products without unsupported rankings. It reviews public information for FAR-MAC STEEL, BSRM, KSRM and GPH Ispat. Confirm every major order directly before purchase.

Which Kinds of Steel Mills Operate in Bangladesh?

Bangladesh has several kinds of steel operations. An integrated or semi-integrated steelmaking plant melts metallic inputs and produces molten steel, which is refined and cast into billets or other semi-finished forms. A re-rolling mill reheats billets and rolls them into products such as TMT bars, steel rods, angles or sections. A fabrication workshop cuts, drills, bends and welds purchased steel into beams, frames, sheds, cladding supports or other project-specific assemblies.

The difference matters because the word “mill” is often used loosely. A business may sell steel bars nationwide without melting scrap, while another may operate an Electric Arc Furnace, ladle furnace, continuous casting machine and rolling line at one site. Neither model is automatically better for every order. Buyers should identify the required product and then verify whether a supplier actually performs the manufacturing stage it claims.

One-Screen Distinction Between Steelmaking, Re-Rolling and Fabrication

Steelmaking starts with inputs such as scrap steel, direct reduced iron, pig iron or other metallic charge materials. The furnace melts those inputs, and the plant controls chemistry, temperature and refining before casting. An EAF plant uses electrical energy to create an arc, while some other facilities use induction furnaces. Large ore-based systems may use a blast furnace and a basic oxygen furnace, but the local production route must be verified plant by plant rather than assumed from marketing language.

Re-rolling begins later in the chain. A mill purchases or internally transfers billets, reheats them and passes them through rolling stands until the required diameter or profile is reached. Fabrication begins later still: steel fabricators purchase rebar, plate, beams, angles, channels, wire rod or steel sections and convert them into usable components. This may include structural framing, a steel column, prefabricated steel beams, a PEB structure or connections for industrial buildings.

Company, Location, Process, Products and Verified Source

The table below is a practical starting point, not a government registry or a ranking. It records only information visible on public company or institutional sources checked on 29 September 2026. “Publicly described” means the source supports the listed statement, not that FAR-MAC STEEL independently audited the plant or certified its current output.

Always confirm the exact legal entity shown on the quotation, invoice and mill test certificate. A corporate group may own several plants, and a brand name may cover products made by different group entities. The factory responsible for the supplied batch is more important than the logo displayed on a dealer’s signboard.

How This Mill List Was Researched and Updated

A dependable directory needs rules. We first look for an operating manufacturer with a public source connecting its legal or trading name to a real production location and relevant products. Company websites, annual reports, stock-exchange filings, government databases, certification records and recent official notices are stronger evidence than copied business-directory entries or social posts with no factory detail.

The list records the date checked because factories expand, merge, stop a line, change a legal name or move a sales office. A web page can remain online even when information is outdated. This guide therefore treats the directory as a verification framework rather than a permanent declaration about every steel factory in Bangladesh.

Real Operating Manufacturer, Public Source and Relevant Product

An eligible entry should show meaningful evidence of manufacturing. Useful indicators include a factory address, production-process description, furnace or rolling equipment, products linked to that facility, current corporate reports, environmental approvals, certification records or recent operational announcements. A warehouse address alone does not prove that steel is made there.

Product relevance also matters. A company making galvanized wire is a manufacturer, but it should not automatically appear under “TMT bar producer” unless a reliable source connects it to that product. Likewise, a structural fabrication company can be highly capable without being a billet producer. The directory should describe what each business does, not force every business into the same label.

Legal Name, Factory Location, Products and Date Checked

Each directory record should include four minimum fields: the legal or clearly identified company name, factory location, manufactured product range and the date on which the source was checked. Ideally, it should also record the production role, source URL, certificate references, available standards and a contact channel for technical confirmation.

These fields reduce common buying errors. A Dhaka head office is not necessarily the factory. A product family is not the same as a confirmed size range. A designed production capacity is not proof of current output. Clear fields make gaps visible before a buyer sends an RFQ or approves a vendor.

What “Unverified” Means and Why Gaps Should Never Be Quietly Filled

“Unverified” does not mean a company is fake, closed or low quality. It means the required claim could not be confirmed from a sufficiently clear current source during this review. For example, a company may have a known brand but no accessible page identifying the factory address, furnace route or exact product range.

The responsible response is to mark the gap and request evidence. Guessing a furnace type from a photograph, repeating a capacity number from an old article or using a dealer’s address as the mill location creates false confidence. In a construction supply chain, an honest blank cell is safer than a polished but unsupported answer.

How Readers Can Suggest a Correction Without Changing Editorial Independence

Manufacturers, employees and buyers may submit a correction with the legal company name, plant address, affected statement, supporting public URL and publication date. A clear source makes review faster. Private sales claims or screenshots without context should be treated as leads, not final evidence.

Submitting information does not guarantee inclusion or preferred placement. The same evidence rules should apply to FAR-MAC STEEL and every other company. That separation protects the usefulness of the directory and helps search engines, AI answer systems and human readers distinguish verified facts from promotional wording.

Steel Mills by Production Role

The steel industries in Bangladesh form a chain. Scrap processors, melting plants, billet casters, re-rolling mills, fabricators, warehouses and dealers can all participate in one order. Mapping that chain shows where chemistry is created, dimensions are formed and components are assembled.

Think of it like food production: the furnace creates the recipe, the rolling mill shapes the standard product, and the fabricator prepares it for a particular project. Traceability should connect each stage to the delivered bundle.

EAF and Billet Producers: How to Verify a Furnace Versus Mere Rolling Capacity

An Electric Arc Furnace melts metallic charge using high-current electric arcs. Molten steel may then move to a ladle furnace for chemistry and temperature adjustment before continuous casting produces billets. A genuine EAF claim should be supported by process descriptions, equipment records, official project announcements, environmental documents or recent company reporting. A rolling mill photograph alone does not establish EAF steelmaking.

When evaluating EAF technology in Bangladesh, ask for the furnace designation, heat size, casting configuration and the relationship between the melting shop and rolling line. Also request a sample mill test certificate showing heat or batch traceability. Technology suppliers such as Primetals Technologies or SMS Group may appear in verified project announcements, but the supplier name should not be added unless a credible source links it to that specific plant.

What Inputs They Purchase and What They Make

A re-rolling mill commonly buys billets and reheats them before rolling. The billet may be locally made, imported or supplied by another company in the same group. Rolling changes the billet’s shape and dimensions into steel bars, rods, beams, angles, channels or other steel profiles. Thermomechanical treatment can then create required strength and ductility characteristics for reinforcing bar.

Buyers should ask where the billet came from and how its heat identity flows into finished-bundle records. A re-roller can produce high-quality construction steel when input control, rolling parameters, testing and traceability are strong. Conversely, owning a melting facility does not remove the need for careful rolling and final-product testing.

Fabrication Companies and Distributors: Separate Them From Manufacturers

Steel fabrication converts standard products into project-specific components. A fabricator may create structural systems for warehouses, light steel structures, a pole barn, an apartment building, office buildings, prefab buildings or pre-engineered buildings. Work can include cutting plate, drilling beams, welding connections, preparing cladding supports and assembling multi-storey steel frames.

A distributor or dealer primarily stocks and supplies products. The business may provide valuable credit, local delivery and mixed-size orders, but it should not be called the manufacturer unless the paperwork proves that role. Ask the seller to name the actual mill and provide original batch documentation. This distinction is especially important when comparing branded steel rods and building materials.

Company Directory Arranged for Buyers, Not a Rank List

This directory supports sourcing decisions, not popularity. Search visibility does not reveal whether a company makes billets, rolls rebar, fabricates steel or distributes another mill’s product. Different orders require different capabilities.

Therefore, this article does not name a “best” manufacturer or present an official Top 10. Buyers should compare documented capability, grade, chemistry, tolerance, certification, stock, delivery and complaint handling.

Verified Entries for FAR-MAC, BSRM, KSRM and GPH Where Source Evidence Exists

FAR-MAC’s public pages describe a Mirsarai facility using EAF and LF technology and list a range of building and industrial products. BSRM’s official pages describe group activities covering billet production, rolling, reinforcing steel and wire operations. KSRM identifies a factory at Ghoramara, Bara Kumira, Sitakunda and provides separate information about billet and rebar production.

GPH Ispat publicly describes a Quantum EAF route that includes ladle refining, continuous casting and rolling, with billets, rebar and medium sections among its product areas. These statements establish a research starting point. They do not replace a current quotation, factory-specific certificate or confirmation that a particular diameter and grade is available on the buyer’s required date.

Research AKS, RSRM, RICL and Other Requested Brands Before Adding Entries

AKS, RSRM, RICL and other commonly searched names may be relevant to buyers, but every entry should pass the same test. Before publishing a directory card, confirm the exact legal entity, factory address, manufacturing role, product range, reliable source and date checked. A brand mentioned in a price article is not automatically a verified mill entry.

If those fields cannot be supported, place the name in a research queue rather than copying claims from competing listicles. This keeps the article expandable without sacrificing accuracy. It also prevents a brand, group company, factory and dealer from being combined into a single misleading record.

Standard Entry Card: Source URL, Location, Product, Manufacturing Role and Last Checked

Every future company card should follow one template: legal name; brand name if different; factory address; manufacturing role; primary products; process evidence; relevant standard or certificate source; official URL; and last-checked date. Optional fields can include sales-office address, delivery areas and a direct technical-contact route.

Consistent entry cards help buyers compare like with like. They also make updates simpler. If a factory adds a new line, the editor can update the process and products without rewriting unrelated company information. If a source disappears, the entry can be flagged for rechecking.

Distinguish a Listed Company From a Specific Product Brand

A company name identifies a legal or corporate entity. A brand identifies how a product is marketed. One group may operate several companies, and one company may sell several grades under different brand names. Quotations, delivery challans and certificates should show enough information to connect the product brand to the actual producer.

Do not assume that every item carrying a familiar name comes from the same line or even the same plant. For structural steel, TMT bar, wire rod or carbon steel, verify the manufacturer, batch, grade and standard on the documents supplied with the order.

Where Steel Factories Operate and Why Location Matters

Factory location influences access to raw materials, power, highways, ports, warehouses and construction markets. It also affects lead time and landed price.

Searches for steel mills Chattogram reflect the region’s industrial advantages. Still, distinguish a head office, Sitakunda or Mirsarai factory, regional warehouse and Dhaka sales office because each performs a different function.

Chattogram and Mirsarai: Proximity to Scrap and Import Logistics

Chattogram offers access to maritime logistics and established industrial corridors. Scrap, billets, equipment and other inputs can enter through the port system, while the Dhaka-Chattogram corridor connects mills to major demand centres. Sitakunda has long been associated with steel and ship-recycling activity, while Mirsarai’s economic-zone development supports large industrial sites.

Location alone does not guarantee low cost. Port congestion, customs timing, yard handling, electricity conditions and road restrictions can change the result. A buyer should examine the complete route from plant or warehouse to project site rather than assuming that the nearest port means the lowest delivered price.

Dhaka Sales Offices, Mills in Other Divisions and Delivery Coverage

A manufacturer may operate its plant in Chattogram while maintaining a Dhaka office for corporate sales, engineering discussions and nationwide coordination. FAR-MAC, for example, publicly lists a Mirsarai factory and a Bashundhara R/A head-office address in Dhaka. That structure is normal, but the addresses should not be merged in a directory.

Mills, rolling operations, warehouses and fabrication facilities may also operate in other divisions. Buyers should ask which location will dispatch the order, whether stock is physically available there and whether the quoted lead time assumes a factory run or warehouse release. Nationwide sales coverage does not mean every size is stocked nationwide.

Freight, Warehouse Stock and Regional Landed Price

The useful comparison is landed cost: product price plus loading, transport, unloading, taxes or duties where applicable, insurance, handling and financing effects. A lower ex-factory rate can become more expensive after delivery to Sylhet, Dhaka, Khulna, Rajshahi or another project district.

Warehouse stock can shorten lead time and support mixed-diameter orders, but confirm storage condition and batch identification. For a large RCC structure, concrete slab, industrial building or bridge order, ask suppliers to state quotation validity, dispatch point, truck capacity, delivery sequence and who carries the risk of shortage or damage.

Compare Capacities, Certifications and Product Ranges Honestly

Capacity figures can describe designed, installed or actual production. Rolling tonnage cannot be compared directly with melting capacity unless the period, product and assumptions match.

Certifications also need context. Management-system, product-conformity and mill test certificates serve different purposes. Check the scope, issuer, standard, validity and named facility.

Designed Versus Operating Capacity: Record the Source Year and Metric

Designed capacity is an engineering target under specified conditions. Installed capacity describes equipment potential. Operating output depends on raw materials, energy, maintenance, demand, product mix and downtime. Sales volume may also include stock or traded products and therefore should not be presented as production volume without evidence.

Whenever a directory lists tonnage, it should state the metric, period and source. FAR-MAC’s website, for example, describes an annual designed production capacity of 750,000 tonnes. That wording should remain “designed capacity” unless a current audited source confirms actual annual output.

Product Standards, Manufacturing Claims and Independent Test Evidence

Product selection should start with the engineer’s standard and grade. Reinforcing steel for a reinforced concrete building may require specified yield strength, tensile strength, elongation, bend performance and chemical limits. Structural design may require precise steel sections, plate thickness, weldability and dimensional tolerance.

Ask for the applicable standard, current product certificate and test result for the supplied batch. Independent testing may be appropriate for major infrastructure or high-risk applications. Marketing phrases such as “international quality” or “green steel” are not substitutes for measurable acceptance criteria.

Batch Traceability, Certificate Samples and Distribution Channels

A good traceability system connects the delivered bundle to the producer, heat or batch, grade, size and test results. Before approving a new supplier, request a redacted sample certificate and check whether its identifiers match tags used on actual bundles. Also confirm how replacement, non-conformance and complaint investigations are handled.

When buying through a dealer, request evidence of the authorized distribution channel and retain the invoice, delivery challan, bundle tags and certificate. Traceability is the thread that ties a physical steel bar to its manufacturing record. Without that thread, even a famous brand name is difficult to verify.

How to Shortlist a Mill for a Construction or Industrial Order

Start with the project requirement, not a company list. A concrete structure, PEB building, railway application and industrial fabrication order need different materials. Shortlist suppliers that can document compliance with the exact specification and delivery plan.

Use identical comparison fields and separate technical compliance from commercial price. This prevents an incomplete offer from appearing better than one that includes testing, delivery and full documentation.

Start With Engineered Grade, Diameter or Section and Quantity

Write the RFQ from approved drawings and the bill of quantities. State the steel grade, standard, diameter or section, length, quantity, tolerance, coating or finishing requirement and intended application. For steel bars, identify bar size and grade. For beams, columns, angles or channels, specify the profile and dimensional standard.

Avoid requesting “best construction steel” without technical detail. A TMT bar for an RCC structure cannot be evaluated in the same way as wire rod for nails, steel strip for cladding, rail steel for heavy-load movement or plate used by metal fabrication companies.

Check Certificates, Supply Availability, Delivery and Complaint Process

Ask each supplier for a sample mill test certificate, relevant product certificates and a written statement of available sizes. Confirm whether the offer is ex-factory or delivered, how quickly the first shipment can leave and whether the full quantity comes from one batch or several.

Also examine after-sales handling. Who records a quality complaint? How is a disputed batch isolated? Will the supplier provide technical review, replacement terms and documented closure? A reliable complaint process protects the schedule when something goes wrong.

Send the Same RFQ to Shortlisted Manufacturers and Compare Landed Terms

Send one RFQ format to every shortlisted company. Ask for unit rate, taxes, transport, unloading responsibility, payment terms, quotation validity, minimum order, delivery schedule, inspection terms and certificate package. Then compare the compliant offers on a landed basis.

Do not use rod price in Bangladesh today as the only decision factor. Daily market rates can help with budgeting, but an executable project quotation depends on grade, diameter mix, volume, delivery point, payment terms and market movement. The cheapest headline price may not be the lowest project cost.

What Its Public Site Says and What to Request

FAR-MAC STEEL’s website presents a technology-focused manufacturer serving building and industrial markets. Buyers can turn those public claims into a technical verification checklist.

Apply the same method to every supplier: identify facts relevant to the order and request current product and shipment documents. Public pages create the shortlist; order documents complete verification.

Its Described EAF/LF Route, Mirsarai Location and Building or Industrial Range

FAR-MAC’s About page describes an Electric Arc Furnace and Ladle Furnace route at its Bangladesh operation. The site places the factory in the National Special Economic Zone at Mirsarai, Chattogram and describes a 50-acre facility with an annual designed capacity of 750,000 tonnes.

Its product directory includes products for building and industrial use, including wire rod, steel strip, flange plate, rail steel and embankment board. These categories can serve construction, steel engineering, manufacturing, infrastructure and fabrication requirements, but availability, size, grade and standard should be confirmed for every enquiry.

Ask for the Specification Sheet and Current Product or Size Availability

Before placing an order, send FAR-MAC the required product, grade, standard, dimension, quantity and delivery location. Ask for the current specification sheet, available sizes, minimum order, production or dispatch lead time, quotation validity and certificate format.

For wire rod, clarify diameter, coil weight, steel grade and end use. For plate, strip, rail or structural products, specify profile, thickness or section and the required inspection standard. If the material will be used in a bridge, commercial building, concrete floor, prefab building or industrial facility, share the engineer-approved requirement rather than asking the sales team to infer it.

Use the About, Product and Contact Pages as Verification Starting Points

The FAR-MAC About page provides its manufacturing narrative, while individual pages such as Wire Rod, Steel Strip, Rail Steel and Flange Plate describe intended applications. Buyers can use those pages to prepare a focused enquiry.

The Contact page lists the Mirsarai factory address, Dhaka office and regional contact routes. Include your project name, location, required standard, size schedule, quantity and requested delivery date. A detailed enquiry usually produces a more useful response than asking only for a general steel price.

Directory Maintenance and Responsible Conclusions

A directory earns trust through updates. Company names, plant status, URLs, certifications, products and contacts need regular review. Unconfirmed facts should be dated, qualified or removed.

Clear maintenance also prevents search cannibalization. This directory answers which mills exist and how to verify them; price and Top 10 pages should serve their own intent and link back contextually.

Quarterly Source Checks: Company Name, Operating Status and URL

Review core entries every quarter. Open each official source, confirm the legal name and factory address, check whether product and process pages still exist, and look for recent annual reports or operational announcements. Record the review date even if no change is found.

High-risk fields deserve more frequent confirmation. These include “currently operating,” actual output, available stock and current certification. A quarterly web review cannot confirm today’s production schedule, so buyers must still contact the company directly before issuing a purchase order.

Never Claim an Official Top 10 or National Market Share Without Evidence

There is no basis for presenting a private editorial list as an official national ranking unless a named authority publishes the methodology and current data. Market share also requires a defined market, period, production or sales metric and consistent data for all compared companies.

Use accurate labels such as “companies reviewed,” “publicly verified manufacturers” or “buyer shortlist.” Avoid “largest,” “number one” or “best steel company in Bangladesh” unless the claim is attributed to a current, credible and comparable source. Clear language is more persuasive than exaggerated certainty.

Link to the Existing Top 10 Page for Methodology, Not Duplicated Rankings

Readers who want a commercial comparison can visit FAR-MAC’s Top 10 Steel Companies in Bangladesh buyer’s guide. That page should explain how companies are assessed, while this directory remains focused on plant role, location and verification.

The two pages should not repeat long company profiles word for word. Instead, link between them with descriptive anchors. The directory can also link to FAR-MAC’s guides on EAF steelmaking, steel industry in Bangladesh and all rod prices to build a clean topical silo.

Conclusion and Next Step

The most useful list of steel mills in Bangladesh is not the longest list. It is the one that helps you separate steelmaking, re-rolling, fabrication and distribution, then verify the plant behind the product. Shortlist suppliers by the engineered grade, size, quantity, certificate and delivery requirement. If FAR-MAC’s building or industrial range matches your project, contact FAR-MAC STEEL with a complete RFQ and request current specifications, availability, documents and landed terms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Where Can I Find a List of Steel Mills in Bangladesh?

Start with a directory that cites official company pages, annual reports, government records or other public evidence. A useful list should identify the factory location, production role, products and date checked instead of repeating brand names without context.

Use the list to create a shortlist, then confirm current operations directly. Factory websites, corporate filings, certification bodies and government databases can support verification, while quotations and mill test certificates connect the final order to a specific producer.

Q2: Is a Steel Re-Rolling Mill the Same as an EAF Steel Plant?

No. An EAF plant melts metallic inputs and creates molten steel. Refining and continuous casting can then turn that steel into billets. A re-rolling mill reheats billets and rolls them into bars, rods or sections.

One company may operate both processes at an integrated site or through separate group entities. Another may only roll purchased billets. Ask for process evidence instead of assuming that every rolling mill also makes steel.

Q3: Is a Dealer Counted as a Steel Manufacturer?

Not unless the dealer also owns or operates the manufacturing facility responsible for the product. A dealer normally purchases, stocks and resells finished materials. That role can still provide local availability, credit and transport support.

Ask the dealer to identify the mill and provide original bundle tags, invoices and certificates. The producer named on the documentation should match the product delivered to the project.

Q4: Which Steel Mills Make TMT Bars in Bangladesh?

Public sources from BSRM, KSRM and GPH describe reinforcing-bar products or rolling operations, while other manufacturers may also offer TMT or deformed bars. Product range and grade can change, so this article avoids claiming a permanent complete list.

Send suppliers the required grade, standard, diameter mix and quantity. Confirm current availability and request the relevant product certificate and batch test document before approval.

Q5: How Do I Check Whether a Steel Factory Is Operating Now?

Look for recent annual reports, production announcements, updated product pages, active official contacts and current regulatory or certification records. Then contact the company and request written confirmation of availability and dispatch lead time.

A functioning website alone is not proof of current operation. For a major order, consider a factory visit, third-party inspection or a live production and stock verification process before payment.

Q6: Does a Mill Certificate Identify the Actual Producer?

A proper mill test certificate normally identifies the producer or issuing facility and provides grade, size, heat or batch number, chemical composition and mechanical test results. The exact fields depend on the product and applicable standard.

Compare the certificate with the quotation, invoice, bundle tags and delivered material. If company names differ because of group entities or trading arrangements, ask the supplier to explain the relationship in writing.

Q7: Can One Company Sell Both Structural Steel and Steel Rods?

Yes. A steel group may manufacture or trade multiple product families, including structural steel, steel bars, steel rods, wire, plate and sections. However, the company may not produce every item at the same plant.

Verify the manufacturer and certificate for each line item. A supplier’s broad catalogue does not automatically mean all products follow the same process, standard or source.

Q8: How Should I Compare Suppliers Located in Different Districts?

Compare landed terms rather than ex-factory prices alone. Include transport, loading, unloading, taxes, financing, delivery sequence, warehouse availability and the risk of delay. Also compare technical compliance and document quality.

Ask every supplier to quote against the same RFQ. A clear comparison table will show whether a lower base price remains attractive after freight, lead time and compliance costs are included.
